John Moriarty is selected to play soccer for Australia.
John played football for South Australian First Division teams Port Thistle and Adelaide Juventus before playing
for Adelaide Croatia. He represented the State of South Australia 17 times, and in 1960, became the first
Indigenous Australian to be selected for a national soccer team.

1962 - Richie Bray plays in his first Premiership for the Port Adelaide Football Club.
A three-time premiership player Richie Bray was a member of the 1962, 1963 and 1965 premierships sides under coach
Fos Williams, Richie played 77 games for the club over a career spanning eight years.
Richie spent most of his playing time on the half forward flank - he kicked 65 goals. He also coached locally at
the Semaphore Football Club.

Association Malcolm Cooper is part of a delegation led by Pastor Sir Douglas Nicholls (Later Governor of South
Australia) that meets with Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies in Canberra to discuss Aboriginal issues including
voting rights, and citizenship, which culminates in the 1967 referendum.

The Freedom Rides.
Inspired by the US Civil Rights Freedom Ride campaign in 1961 the Australian Freedom Rides aimed to expose
discrepancies in living, education and health conditions among the Aboriginal population with a bus tour through
New South Wales by activists protesting discrimination against Aboriginal people in small towns in NSW.

Prasad from under the nose of immigration officials at the Sydney airport for the purpose of highlighting the
injustice her deportation under Australia’s "White Australia" immigration policy.

1965 - An act of courage by Bill Espie and Constable in the NSW Police Force.
In March 1965 he went to the scene of a collision and found both vehicles burning fiercely. Without hesitation, he
went in and rescued a trapped man from each of the burning cars. He earned a Commissioner’s Commendation and the
Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct. Commissioner Norman Allen also awarded him the Peter Mitchell Award, a
perpetual trophy, to recognize his selfless and brave conduct. On top of that he received the George Lewis Trophy,
for the most courageous act by a member of the NSW Police Force in 1965.
